Monday September 12

Boris (the brooding young Russian intellectual from our last trip) picked us up at 11:30.  I would make some sort of a crack about Russians starting their days late etc. etc., but Robin and I barely got up in time to get ready.  We headed straight to the orphanage.  Alexandra was upset at first, as I expected.  What I didn't expect is that she warmed up to us relatively quickly, and laughed, played and in general was acting pretty happy with us.  It was a very fun visit -- we both left happy, energized and looking forward to Tuesday.
Dinner was a bowl of borscht and pizza -- both delicious.  Then we walked to a very cool and very fancy grocery store to stock up on some staples.

  1. Borscht sounds yummy right now with a bit of a chill in the air. So glad Alexandra was happy to see you in the end!
