The last push home. Another early morning, another cab ride and another airport.... this time on my own with Alexandra (even harder to travel with a toddler alone).... The plane ride was uneventful and unfun, thankfully the early morning flight was mostly empty. And then, we landed in St. Louis. It was a gray and rainy morning... Of course, our luggage did not arrive. And the American Airlines baggage service people informed that they had no information as to where it was. At that point, I was so tired, that I didn't even care. My friend Andy came to pick us up in my car (carseats), and then I dropped him off downtown. After that, Alexandra and I were on our own for the first time, driving back to my house, on a quiet rainy Sunday morning. It was interesting to see her taking it all in -- maybe I imagined it, but she was looking around with interest.
We arrived at our house, and walked into her room -- she loved it. she perked up, starting playing with some of the toys, checking out the decorations. We are home.
Wow. So awesome. Just think - HOME is something that Alexandra has never really had. What a tremendous blessing for her! She has no idea how lucky she just got :) You will be a wonderful role-model as she grows up.
