Couple of things that I noticed last time about Moscow/Russia:
random level changes on the floor. Eg. the bathroom floor is a BIG step down from the hallway -- so far we each almost fell down a couple of times.
Tons of fresh flowers everywhere. Laura noticed last time that there were a lot a flower shops around the city. We also saw a ton people carrying large bouquets of flowers around -- must be popular to bring/give flowers.
I loved all the flowers available pretty cheap when I was in Romania. One of the oddities there is that people carry the flowers upside down - I figured this was probably to protect them on crowded public transportation? People bought and gave flowers very often I recall. I wish flowers were cheaper around here so they could be a more common gift!
